French Village Project
Imagine you are in France and you live in a small village. You will all choose a work in this village: you can be for example a baker, a singer, an artist, a taxi driver, a postman, a school teacher, a doctor or a nurse... Each student will then learn the French vocabulary in relation with his virtual work and every week, during the class, we will organize scenes and choose a topic (role playing). The objective is of course to encourage the students to speak French as often as possible. The most important is to make conversion fun and concrete: talk about every day life in France. You can make a play on your own or with other students (maximum 4 in a group). All the students in the group will have the same grade, except if one member of the group obviously didn't prepare and has a lower level.
First, decide if you want to work alone or with your classmates. Second, choose a job. If you are in a group, the jobs must of course be related. Example of a short play: you are sick and you go to the hospital, there is a nurse and you talk to a doctor. Another example: you are a tourist guide and you introduce a famous spot to foreign tourists. Other example: you are an artist painter and some people come to visit your exhibition.
When you know the plot of your short play, write a text in French and then send it to me by email. I will help you correct it. Every week, around 5 students will present a play during the class. Each student should speak a few minutes.
